A Lil' Caj-ducation
💬 Who’s Boo?
If you're new around here, “Boo” is what we say in New Orleans when we love ya a little. It’s like “fam,” “darlin’,” or “hey you with the good taste in food.” So when we say “Let’s stay in touch, Boo,” we mean you’re part of the family now.
💬 ...and what’s “che”?
“Che” (pronounced shay) is a Cajun and Creole word for “darlin’,” “friend,” or “beloved.” It comes from the French word cher.
It’s how we show love down South — so if we call you che, you’re officially family now.
Down in Louisiana, we speak a whole other language — a mix of French, Creole, soul, and spice. So let us school ya real quick:
👋🏽 How to say Hello in Cajun French:
“Ça va?” (pronounced sah-vah) — It means “How’s it going?”
Or just hit ‘em with a big ol’ “Hey y’all!”
🗣️ How to say Tchoupitoulas (our signature sauce):
It’s pronounced CHOP-uh-TOO-luss.
Now don’t hurt yourself trying — just point and say “the good sauce.”
Where Po’Boys Come From:
The Po’Boy was born in New Orleans in the 1920s, during a streetcar strike. Two brothers, Benny and Clovis Martin, fed the hungry strikers for free — yellin them “po' boys” and just like that, a Louisiana legend was born.
And now… you can get that same soulful sandwich right here in Dubai from OJ & Glen's Louisiana Po'Boys!
